Music Salon

The Hay-Adams welcomes back PostClassical Ensemble Music Director Ángel Gil-Ordóñez and his talented quintet of musicians for our upcoming Music Salon. 

For our next Music Salon, PCE is joined by a quintet of musicians for an exploration of Mozart's late masterpiece, the Clarinet Quintet K.581, where the clarinet found its voice during Vienna's golden age. Discover how the quintet can be seen in the context of Mozart's state of mind, the peculiarities of the Viennese musical scene, and Mozart’s well-documented affection for the clarinet, which was only coming into general use in chamber and orchestral music at that time. The experience will show how breaking down the piece into its four movements leads one to marvel at the genius of its ultimate cohesiveness.
